Update. Happy Easter. 6th Anniversary Special.

Not much to update on really, so just lots of random pics of the last couple of weeks.

Smiley face on a Sunday morning while making strawberry pancakes.

Bubby discovers body art. Since then we've had beans, broccoli, corn and chicken. Luckily, his interest in stuffing food in his ears didn't last long.

Bubby's broad bean.

Bubby's Easter hat or what's left of it. He insisted on wearing it the entire way home.

Bubby wanted to wear a tie and a hat. He grabbed his lion lunchbox, headed out the door and said good bye.

When you're on to a good thing get them in every colour. They only cost $15. I might go back and get the red and the black pairs.

This is what happens when you leave laundry markers within toddler's reach. The worst part is what he did to this pristine cream table cloth.
Spot the purple pen.

Love birds outside my window at work.
Happy Easter! Bubby made the bag and baked the cookie.

It's not only Easter it's also our 6th wedding anniversary. Most people say their wedding day is the happiest day of their lives. I'm even happier now than the day I got married. Although my waistline is not quite as tiny. This year's present is not quite as extravagant as last year's.

Wood themed 5th wedding anniversary present.

No presents this year but we did go shopping yesterday and we bought a new iron last month maybe that counts. Iron being the traditional 6th anniversary present and along, along with sweets and being Easter there was a lot of that already.

I hope everyone is enjoying their Easter long weekend!

Day Out Without Bubby.

I can count with one hand, three fingers to be precise, the number of times I've been out without Bubby that didn't involve going to the doctor or running errands or grocery shopping or attending a funeral. It's such a rare treat to be able to be somewhat carefree. I had such a nice catch up with a friend in the city yesterday.

We felt like yum cha so we headed to the Fat Buddha in the Queen Victoria building. It was the worst yum cha experience ever. Not that the food was bad, I never really got the chance to taste them. We managed to order two things but the trolleys just kept zooming right past us despite our best attempts to flag them down. It was past 2 pm by this time and the place was almost empty so there was absolutely no excuse. We decided to cut our losses and find somewhere else to eat. It was the first time I walked out of a yum cha restaurant without feeling like I'm about to burst especially since we were fully prepped for a food comatose. What a fat disappointment.

Afterwards we headed to Din Tai Fung dumpling bar in Westfield Centrepoint. They didn't have as extensive a menu as the one in World Square but what they had was really good.

The vegetable won ton with spicy sauce was YUM.

Pity there wasn't much else I could eat because most have pork. Which meant there was room for dessert. There are so many places to go to for dessert in the city but somehow we always end up in Max Brenner. My favourite is the cramped cozy four-table Max Brenner next to David Jones on the lower ground floor. I'm a creature of habit and I've been going there for years.

Speaking of habit. You know you have one when a barista recites your order even before you've placed it.
Sausage McMuffin meal with apple juice and small skim chai latte.

No, I don't have McDonald's for breakfast everyday. The chai latte isn't even for me. It's for a friend at work who leaves a breakfast bar on my desk every morning and usually has some sort of fruit for me as well. Back in my Sydney Uni days the guy from Wendy's in the Wentworth building will start making my hot chocolate as soon as he sees me walking up the stairs. I give him a quick wave, I go to the bathroom and by the time I come out my hot chocolate and two cinnamon doughnuts are waiting for me. Doughnuts and hash browns. It sounds bad but my diet isn't really as bad as it sounds, really.

The Waiting Place.

Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You're off to Great Places!
You're off and away!

Fans of Dr Seuss will get the reference:

"You are now entering the waiting place"
It's not everyday that I smile as I enter the evil Eastern Distributor.

If you're not familiar with Dr Seuss' Oh, The Places You'll Go, because I know not everyone is forced to read it every night, here's an excerpt:

headed, I fear, toward a most useless place.
The Waiting Place...

...for people just waiting.
Waiting for a train to go
or a bus to come, or a plane to go
or the mail to come, or the rain to go
or the phone to ring, or the snow to snow
or waiting around for a Yes or a No
or waiting for their hair to grow.
Everyone is just waiting.

You can read the rest of the poem here.

Things That Annoy Me. Things That I Love.

It's not surprising that the things that annoy me always involve driving or other drivers.

Look at this jerk who parked so close to the back of my car that I can barely fit in there. I made sure that there was enough space between the back of my car and the line so I have enough space to load the shopping and the pram only to come back to this. For goodness sake, there is a line and any idiot who knows how to drive and presumably park, knows you're supposed to be inside your line. I was forced to lift the pram way above my waistline in order to get it in the boot. I am fat with child and have been suffering from terrible hip and lower back pain hence nobody can blame me for accidentally bashing the pram on the jerk's car as I attempted to lift it. It may have happened more than once. I wish I had a left a note to tell the driver how inconsiderate he was.

I also noticed a scratch on my passenger side door which could only have been the result of someone opening their car door on mine, hard. It's on the same side where Bubby's car seat is so I know I always leave plenty of room on that side. I have posted before about another moron who parked too close to me on Bubby's side (see here) and I still managed to get Bubby in the car without hitting the other car so the jerk who hit mine must have been a real piece of work. It just pisses me right off.

Don't be fooled by this peaceful looking tree-lined street in one of Sydney's most expensive suburbs. It is a great source of pain in the mornings. A single lane thoroughfare to the road leading to the only entrance to the Cross City Tunnel. Such poor planning. Do not be fooled also by the street's name that contains the word ocean because there is no ocean view.

How painful it must be to get a glimpse of your destination in the distance knowing it's so close (if you have a hover car) yet it's about an hour away. Morning peak hour school run traffic is enough to drive you insane. I wish Bubby's school opens at 6 am so I don' have to go through this everyday.

You might be wondering how I can take photos while driving. It's because I don't have a tv I can watch while I'm waiting for the traffic to move.

There are lots to love though. Not driving, obviously.

Bubby is so helpful. He carries the shopping in for me. I don't even have to ask. He also vacuums and sweeps the floor.

He waters the garden too.

Daddy and Bubby going for an evening stroll.

My favourite summer fun photo: Bubbby spraying his daddy with the hose. The look on hubby's face as he tries to run away was priceless.

Lovebirds.

The first time I saw an owl was at the zoo. The first time that Bubby saw not one but two owls was on a tree just outside the kitchen window.
How sweet are these two lovebirds. Not even Hallmark could have come up with a better picture for a Valentine's Day card.

Speaking of cards. Hubby got me this card last month, inside it says 'that attract' and a sweet message. (If you've been reading for a while you'd know I'm a science nerd). No occasion, he just thought of me when he saw it. To me that means more than a hundred Valentine's Day cards. Just as well because I'm pretty sure I'm not getting one. Valentine's Day, been there, done that.

ETA: I've just been told the lovebirds aren't owls but the closely related Tawny Frogmouth. According to wikipedia "Tawny Frogmouth pairs stay close together until one of the pair dies."<3

Best Buds or Partners in Crime.

On Saturday we found out that Bubby will have a baby brother!

Bubby likes babies and is a really nice kid even if he is mischievous. I think they will get along well but I'm not sure if they will be best buds or partners in crime, probably both. Hubby and I are both happy with another boy and to be honest I didn't care either way. Before I had Bubby I really wanted a girl and to be honest I was disappointed when I found out Bubby was a boy. Now, I can't even imagine having a girl. Now we have to brace ourselves for the question "Are you going to try for a girl?" As if our lives will not be complete unless we have one of each. I won't even go into my mum's reaction, lets just say she told my brother he now has to have a girl because she wants a grand daughter. Frustrating.

I was a bit disappointed that the sonographer didn't do a lot of 3D scans so we could see what the baby looks like. Well, according to Bubby the baby looks like a rabbit.

20 weeks down, 20 weeks to go!

Sleep Tight Teddy.

Sweet dreams Teddy Boy, little Houdini, crazy dog. Almost 16 years of mayhem. The number of times you kept me up late at night because you were hungry and would only eat if I hand fed you. The number of times you made me late in the morning because you managed to escape. The number of times I came home from uni/ballet/work to find you waiting outside the front door when you should have been inside the backyard. The number of times I woke up at 2 am to the sound of all the neighbourhood dogs barking like mad. The night I finally discovered how you manage to escape and jump over the almost two metre fence. Wherever you are now there are lots of fences to climb over and dig under, fields to run wild in, high places to jump from and all the steak and coke you can eat and drink. You can roll around the dirt and mud as much as you want and never get dirty, if you do you will get a bath and a blow dry and will actually like it. You can pick fights with the bigger dogs and this time you'll win and they will be the ones with patches of fur missing. I'll always remember your favourite game of running around the backyard at full speed wanting to be caught and how you'd stop and pretend to drink so I can get a little closer before you bolt again. I remember your favourite patch of dirt to lie on and how you'd sleep there even if it's cold. I'll always remember how you used to lie in the plastic basin I used to fill with water on hot days. I'll always remember how you used to wake me up with the sound of your body crashing against my window when you jump up on the window sill to bathe in the sunlight like a cat and how you used to bark at your own reflection on the piano and my Hello Kitty money box. I could go on and on. You had a really good long run, you never seemed to get tired, until now. Sleep tight my Teddy Boy.

He always had the cutest little nose.

I'm amazed I managed to get him to stand still long enough to take this photo.
